Shape Shift

This term we started a superhero/villain stop-motion project. I am working with Sabrina for this project. We had to create a character, get props, paint our sets and now we're busy filming. It has been an enjoyable project so far but it has it's challenges. One of them has been time management, especially with the other characters I had to make at home and now we only have three lessons to film. If I were to change something about this project, I would remove the A4 drawing or not make it for marks because we had to do it while we we were still making our characters and then we had to worry about both things at once and making the character was more important. The highlight of the project so far was painting the set because it turned out the way we wanted from when we started. Overall, the project has been a great experience and I look forward to seeing the end product.

Instant Messaging Guidelines

In IT, we've been working on posters about instant messaging for the Grade fours as they have just started using iPads this year and are starting to experiment with Messages which has started a few situations as they don't really know how it works. Our posters provided information on instant messaging and how to use it correctly. Today the Pheasants came to the IT room with us for us to show them our posters and teach them about smart messaging. These posters taught them about tone, facial expression and how texting could go wrong. They learned a lot about messaging through these posters and hopefully we helped them be more clear with their messaging. Created using Google Drawings.

Poetry ILT

I Last week from Wednesday to Friday, the Senior Primary had our ILT and the theme for the Grade sixes was poetry. An ILT is an integrated learning task where we work in groups and do interesting but challenging projects based on one topic. There were many interesting things that we did in this ILT like poetry terminology, writing poems, blackout poetry and we even had our own poetry slam. In Grade 4 and 5, we have one topic and we do work in all the subjects based on the topic, but in Grade 6, it is all mainly one subject, a different subject each term. Obviously because the theme was poetry, the main subject for this year's ILT was English. For writing our poems we had to choose a theme and and style of poetry and write poems based on that theme. My group's theme was the galaxy. This week, we're going on our camp to Rocklands from tomorrow to Friday. I am very excited because this is my last camp in the Senior Primary. We went to Rocklands in Grade 3 but ...

Time Flies, It's already 2017.

Where has all the time gone? Its 2017, Grade six, my last year of Senior Primary. It's just unbelievable how fast these years have gone by, how I'm going to high school next year, but since it's my last Senior Primary year, I'm going to make 2017 a year to remember. Throughout all the years time management was always my biggest issue so this year I'm going to improve it. 2017 will be full of ups and downs, but I will make the most of it. I hope I can improve my SS marks this year. This year I will try to make it on the A team for hockey so that I can go on the hockey tour. I entered the qualifiers for the Hong Kong or India maths competition, I hope I make it to the next levels and get to go. This year, I'm hoping to get top achiever again so I will work really hard towards that. I'm also hoping to get a higher mark in art than last year. Over all, I hope I can remember this year as one of the best years.

Change of Heart

Piper had things that she wanted to do but told herself she couldn't. She didn't believe much, but that didn't stop her dreams. One day, she opened the door ready for school, but everything she expected to be there wasn't there, but it was replaced with some weird almost magical world. It left her in disbelief, but she just went with it, because this was that paradise that her parents told her existed. Suddenly the ground shook, she fell and woke up. It was all a dream, but she knew that it was real. Was this her change of heart?

Success from Failure

I could feel the adrenaline pumping. I was prepared for anything. It was when I started the race that I knew there was something wrong, but thinking about all the training put into this and I knew that I had to continue. I was leading. I could see the finish line, then I fell badly. I felt like I had to give up. Especially hearing the commentator saying things like "Emma Andricks has fallen and Julianna Marie has taken the lead!" Then something made me get back up and finish. I didn't win, but at least I finished the race.
